The "Alice" Furneaux Momma's w/Babies Program

Alice and her granddaughter, Vivi, always had a close relationship. As V got older she was drawn to animals and when her parents introduced her to volunteering, she invited her grandmother to join her reading to the animals at Austin Pet's Alive. The act of volunteering brought Grandmother, Mom, and Daughter together in an even more meaningful way. When Alice passed, her daughter and granddaugher wanted to honor her by memorializing some of the most precious times that they spent together.

Both pregnant mothers and those that have just had babies are important to DARN and a concern to the rescues and shelters who house them. Being around other animals (especially in shelters) is a great risk to new borns because of the risk of disease transferance. Our goal at DARN is to have multiple kennels and volunteer fosters who can assist by fostering the Mommas and their litter that will all them to stay together until they are weaned and ready to be adopted out. This is a big dream of ours and in the works.

August 20, 2021 - The time has come for our Four Feline Friends (Mary lovingly refers to them as the four kittens of the apocalypse) to move on to brighter pastures. Is fostering and then letting them go hard?Yes, but they are moving on towards their forever homes and we are freeing up space for the next ones in need. And yes, tears were shed.

July 17, 2021 - Our foster babies are doing great and will be available for adoption soon through Save An Angel. 3 girls and 1 boy, left to right - Ephiny, Joxer, Gabrielle and Xena. They are as sweet as they are cute!

July 5, 2021 - Foster they say, it'll be fun they say... OK in all honesty it is still fun but Xena feels it is her responsibility to make sure we have something extra to clean every day.

June 30, 2021 - DARN is getting our first Foster's in and we couldn't be more happy to help. We look forward to sharing more about these 4 precious babies approximately 5 weeks old and a bit malnourished. We will work with SAA to get them healthy and find them the best possible furever home.
